This month's devotional journal, "Return Before the Breach Widens," came at exactly the right time for me.
When my mother fell and fractured her hip, our family faced a very difficult decision. Because of her age and multiple medical conditions, including stroke and Parkinson's disease, some of our family members were hesitant about proceeding with hip replacement surgery.
During that season, one truth from your podcast kept echoing in my heart: "Return before the crack widens." I became convinced that delaying the decision could allow the situation to worsen. With faith in the Lord, I took the bold step of admitting her to the hospital and consenting to the surgery, despite the risks involved.
By God's grace, the surgery was successful. My mother came through safely and was stable afterward. Her recovery has been slow and continues to be challenging because of her existing health conditions. Even so, I choose to trust in our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that He is able to strengthen her, restore her health, and, in His perfect time, help her stand and walk again.
This devotional has reminded me that obedience to God's prompting, even when it requires courage, can prevent a small breach from becoming much greater. It has strengthened my faith to keep trusting Him through every stage of this journey.
